VGP – The Sea and Island Week 2012 is scheduled to take place from June 1-8, mainly in the southern coastal city of Vung Tau, according to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment.

Themed "Vietnam gets strong and rich from sea”, the week is expected to make both leaders and people more fully aware of the role and importance of seas and islands in the country’s socio-economic development and sovereignty protection
It also aims to support the rational and sustainable use of sea and island resources, said Director General of the Vietnam Administration of Seas and Islands Nguyen Van Cu.
The event also includes activities in reference to World Environment Day (June 5) and World Oceans Day (June 8), and forums on marine trademarks and national marine trademarks.
