The Area A Saigon South intersection on the city’s eastern belt road includes a 508-meter overpass, a 300-meter tunnel and approach roads.
Construction of the intersection began in 2008 with a total investment of VND332 billion. Phu My Construction Investment Joint Stock Co. (PMC) developed the project under BT (build-transfer) form.
The same day PMC also opened Da Khoa Bridge in District 7 to traffic as an approach road from Phu My Bridge to the parkway.
HCMC vice chairman Nguyen Thanh Tai said the intersection along with Cat Lai 2 are the two most important intersections of the East-West Highway. Transportation from local ports will be efficient when the Binh Thai intersection in Thu Duc District is opened to traffic, he said.
