HCMC – Saigon FC went second in the V-League after a 1-0 win over Kienlongbank KG at Thong Nhat Stadium on Sunday, while SHB Danang were defeated 2-0 by Hoang Anh Gia Lai in the Central Highlands city of Pleiku on Saturday.

HCMC – Saigon FC went second in the V-League after a 1-0 win over Kienlongbank KG at Thong Nhat Stadium on Sunday, while SHB Danang were defeated 2-0 by Hoang Anh Gia Lai in the Central Highlands city of Pleiku on Saturday.

Nsi Amougou Christian helped the home side to an eighth victory of the season scoring the only goal in the 66th minute to put Saigon on 30 points, three points behind leaders Hanoi T&T.

The clash between SHB Danang and Hoang Anh Gia Lai attracted much public attention.

Evaldo became the hero by netting twice for Hoang Anh in the 33rd and 84th minutes. Hoang Anh remain fourth with 26 points while SHB Danang fell to third on 27 points but they have a game in hand.

Meanwhile, Becamex Binh Duong crushed Thanh Hoa 4-1 in Binh Duong Province. Nguyen Tang Tuan opened in the 21st minute, before Le Van Thang leveled three minutes later.

Samson O. Kpennosen hit a double in the 42nd and 72nd minutes and Kubheka Philani was also on the scoresheet.

With the victory, Binh Duong climbed to fifth.

In Nha Trang City, Khatoco Khanh Hoa were defeated 2-1 by Hanoi FC who climb to seventh place.

Bottom side Vicem Haiphong lost 3-0 to Dong Thap in the Mekong Delta on Sunday. Dong Thap moved to 11th place with 19 points, eight points ahead of Haiphong.

The remaining two V-League matches will kick-off today, when leaders Hanoi T&T take on defending champions Song Lam Nghe An and Navibank Saigon travel to XM The Vissai Ninh Binh at 5:00 p.m.

* Dong Nai beat visitors Junior Hanoi 2-0 on Saturday to push their First Division promotion claim.

Backed by an enthusiastic support, Dong Nai dominated with goals from Nyirenda Victor and Kisekka Henry sealing an easy win.

The victory put Dong Nai joint second on 27 points with Hung Vuong An Giang, who lost 4-3 to TDC Binh Duong at home.

Despite leaders Hanoi losing 3-1 to Quang Nam at Hang Day Stadium, they stay in front on 34 points while Quang Nam climbed to fourth with 26 points.

Junior SHB Danang beat HCMC 2-0 at Thong Nhat Stadium to go sixth. The central-based team and Binh Dinh, who beat Lam Dong 1-0 at their home town, now have 25 points each.

Bottom side Tay Ninh lost 1-0 to Dong Tam Long An Tiles.
