Titled “Andromake,” the play has been adapted by famous Norwegian author and dramatist Jon Fosse and directed by Jean-Marie Lejude, who successfully created the play “La Fontaine Fable” at the Hanoi Academy of Theatre and Cinema on the occasion of the school’s 50th anniversary.

The play will be performed in both Vietnamese and French by eight actors from the two countries, including Catriona Smith, Ched Chenouga, Gisele Torterolo, Pierre Olivier, Lam Tung, Vinh Xuong, Ngan Hoa and Khanh Linh.

First performed in 1667, “Andromaque” tells the tragic story of Andromaque, a woman who was detained in the enemy’s land but remains loyal to her late husband Hector through her love for her son, Astyanax.

“Andromake” will be held at the Hanoi Opera House, located at 1 Trang Tien Street, before moving to France in 2012.

Tickets cost between VND100,000 to VND200,000, and are available at the venue.
