This year's ranking also included Cyrus Mistry for the first time, at No. 15, recently been appointed as Tata Sons vice-chairman and chairman designate.
Tata Group is a multinational conglomerate headquartered in Mumbai, India and operating in a wide range of industry from steel, technology to hotels.
Tata Steel, its major company, is in the top 10 global steel companies. Recently, Tata Steel has topped India's 50 most admired companies ranking, while four other companies from the conglomerate have also made the ranking. The other Tata Group firms on the list include Tata Motors (6th), Titan Industries (39th) and Tata Tech (44th).
In Vietnam, Tata Steel signed a contract with the Vietnam Steel Corporation to invest in $5 billion steel complex project in central Ha Tinh province’s Vung Ang Economic Zone in 2007 with a capacity of 4.5 million tonnes.
Tata Steel holds 65 per cent stake in this project. However, this project faces delay due site clearance woes. Tata Steel has recently agreed to support funding for site clearance and been waiting for the feedback from Ha Tinh authorities.
