Quảng Nam set to become industrial province before 2020

VGP - Quảng Nam is striving to gain an average annual GDP growth of over 13.5% in 2011-2015, becoming an industrial province before 2020.

In the period, the province plans to have more than 44% of its GDP to be covered by industry and construction sectors.

Quảng Nam is set to make a 22% increase in export turnovers and reduce the poverty rate by 2.5-3% a year.

It is also poised to create 200,000 jobs, with over 45% of laborers undergoing full vocational training, decrease the proportion of agricultural and fishery laborers to below 42%, raise the forest coverage to over 50% by 2015.

To this end, the province will continue to mobilize all sources to make three breakthroughs in infrastructure construction, human resource quality improvement, and investment environment enhancement.

Over the past 15 years, Quảng Nam made an average annual GDP growth of nearly 10.6%, marking the rate of 12.2% in 2011.

In 2011, the proportion of industry and construction in GDP surged to 79% from 52%. Besides, industrial production value saw a 20 fold rise over 1997.

The province is currently home to nearly 5,300 enterprises, including 81 foreign-invested projects with a total registered capital of over US $4.7 billion.
