PANO - The Drug Criminal Control Department and Border Post 591 under Quang Binh Border Guards have busted a smuggling ring and confiscated more than 370kg of explosives being transported from Laos to Vietnam, after 3 months of tracing and investigating them.
The arrested, natives of Son Trach Commune, Bo Trach District, Quang Binh Province had established contacts with some Lao smugglers to exploit explosives and then use them in Vietnam.
The plan, code-named “514L”, was conducted to catch the ring in action.
At 6.30am on April 17 th , patrol team from the Drug Criminal Control Department and Border Post 591 arrested 9 suspects trying to transport, 371kg explosives from Laos to Vietnam at the border area near Cu Ton Village, Thuong Trach Commune, Bo Trach District.
This is biggest cross-border explosive smuggling case on Vietnam-Laos borderline of Quang Binh Border Guards.
The two above units have been assigned to conducted further investigations.
