Prudential Vietnam and Cong An Nhan Dan (People’s Police) newspaper on Wednesday granted 80 Phu-An Tam insurance contracts to street heroes in HCMC and Binh Duong.

A ceremony to honor the heroes, who risked their lives to catch criminals for the good of society, was held in District 1 with the participation of representatives of the Ministry of Police, HCMC Police and Binh Duong Province’s Police.

There were 60 heroes from Binh Duong and 20 from HCMC receiving the special gifts, with another 20 insurance contracts to be later handed over to street heroes in Hanoi.

Each hero received an insurance contract worth VND10 million to receive ten years’ protection. If the insured recipient dies but it is not as a result of a traffic accident in the next decade, their families will be paid VND10 million. If they do die via a traffic accident they get VND30 million. For those who suffer internal injures while trying to keep the peace on the streets, will be paid between VND5 million and VND10 million.

Crime fighters who become sick or are injured will have part of their hospital fees paid. After finishing the ten-year contract, the street heroes will receive the total value of their insurance contract. Jack Howell, CEO of Prudential Vietnam, said: “We do hope this insurance contract helps street heroes feel more secure when performing their brave acts to bring peace and safety to the community.”
