PM Dung underlined that Vietnam values the UN’ role in the global community, especially in promoting peace, development co-operation, poverty reduction and coping with climate change.

He expressed his delight at the fine development of Vietnam-UN relations in all fields, especially the co-operation with the UN organisations in fulfilling the Millennium Development Goals, settling emerging issues, coping with climate change, and protecting the environment and water resource.

PM Dung said he hoped the two sides will soon sign a co-operation programme for the 2012-2016 period, in which the UN will support Vietnam in its strong area of providing policy consultation and resource in the fields of poverty reduction, education, public health and environment.

As a responsible member of the UN, Vietnam will closely work with the UN organisations to successfully implement the ‘One UN’ initiative, he affirmed.

Speaking highly of Vietnam’s development achievements, Eamonn Murphy, acting UN Resident Co-ordinator in Vietnam said that the UN will continue helping the country in poverty reduction, improving environment, coping with climate change and public administration.
