Nhan Dan - The Vietnam Journalists’ Association (VJA) held a national conference in Hanoi on April 20-21 to review press agency operations in 2011 and the deployment of their major tasks in 2012.
The conference was attended by Politburo member, Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC), Head of the CPVCC Commission for Communication and Education and former Chairman of the VJA, Dinh The Huynh.
Speaking at the event, Politburo member Huynh praised the activities and successes of management bodies and press agencies in the past year. Most press agencies continue to pioneer disseminating information on Party guidelines and State policies and laws, as well as the campaign for ‘Studying and Following President Ho Chi Minh’s Moral Example’ and Government Resolution 11 on curbing inflation, stabilising the macro-economy and assuring social security.
While pointing out some of the press agencies' shortcomings and weaknesses, the Politburo member urged the press to play a more active role in the fight against corruption, waste, and the distorted opinions and arguments of hostile forces, in addition to contributing more to creating unanimity and strengthening the Party and people's determination in implementing the Party Central Committee fourth Plenum, 11th tenure Resolution on Party building and Politburo Directive No. 03-CT/T.Ư on promoting the campaign for ‘Studying and Following President Ho Chi Minh’s Moral Example’.
On the occasion, the VJA presented certificates of merit to 19 press agencies, 50 collectives and 206 journalists for outstanding contributions to the Association’s development in 2011.
