VN welcomes first visit of Japanese Emperor
Viet Nam treasures and welcomes the first visit to Viet Nam by Japanese Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko, State President Tran Dai Quang told Yomiuri newspaper.
State President Quang expressed his belief that the visit would help further strengthen the Viet Nam-Japan strategic partnership in all fields.
Quang took the occasion to extend best wishes to the Royal family, Government and people of Japan.
PM attends flag-raising ceremonies for submarines
PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc attended a flag-raising ceremony on the navy’s two new Kilo-class submarines in the south central coastal province of Khanh Hoa on February 28.
The submarines, named the HQ-186 Da Nang and HQ-187 Ba Ria-Vung Tau, were among the six submarines that Viet Nam purchased from Russia as part of their contract signed in 2009, and the last ones to be delivered.
On behalf of the Government, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said the purchase of the most modern diesel-fueled submarines for the Navy is part of the strategic vision of the Party and State to strengthen the national defence at sea and increase capacity for the naval force.
VN-U.S. double taxation avoidance agreement approved
The Government recently issued a resolution to ratify an agreement and a protocol on avoiding double taxation and preventing income tax evasion between Viet Nam and the United States of America.
The agreement aims to avoid or eliminate double taxation of the same income in the two countries while creating a legal framework for Viet Nam’s taxation department and foreign taxation agencies in international tax management.
Deputy PM meets new French Ambassador
On February 28, Deputy PM, FM Pham Binh Minh received newly-appointed French Ambassador to Viet Nam Bertrand Lortholary in Ha Noi.
Bertrand Lortholary also met with President of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan on the same day.
Bertrand Lortholary took office in September 2016 after his predecessor Jean Noel Poirier ended his tenure.
VN rejects China’s new fishing regulations
Viet Nam resolutely opposes and rejects China’s new regulations on a fishing break at sea, Foreign Ministry’s spokesman Le Hai Binh has said.
He made the statement on February 28 in response to reporters’ queries about the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture’s official announcement on the application of the regulations, which also cover some waters areas of Viet Nam.
The spokesman emphasised that Viet Nam has sufficient legal ground and historical evidence affirming its sovereignty over Hoang Sa (Paracel) archipelago as well as legitimate rights over its waters in line with the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
Intersectoral steering committee for int’l integration made up of 11 members
Deputy PM Vuong Dinh Hue, head of the Intersectoral Steering Committee for International Economic Integration, has signed a decision ratifying the list of the committee’s members.
The intersectoral steering committee is part of the National Steering Committee on International Integration, which was established following the Prime Minister’s Decision No. 596/QĐ-TTg dated April 23, 2014.
The intersectoral steering committee is tasked with researching, recommending and consulting with the head of the National Steering Committee on the government’s big guidelines, policies, strategies, plans and action programs concerning international economic integration, as well as on the common negotiation guidelines and directions for international economic integration, so as to create a premise for the building of negotiation measures of ministries and sectors.
Korean firm builds electronic component plant at Phu Ha IP
A satellite of Samsung, the Davo C&M Co. Ltd. has signed a contract with Viglacera to rent 20,000sq.m land at Phu Ha Industrial Park in Phu Tho province to build an electronic component plant.
This is the fifth businesses from the Republic of Korea to invest in the IP. Earlier other Samsung satellites like Jawa Vina, NT Vina, Almus Corp, andElpostech chose Phu Ha IP as their destinations.
VN-Cambodia friendship monument in Preah Vihear upgraded
A monument dedicated to patriotic Cambodians and Vietnamese volunteer soldiers was inaugurated in Preah Vihear province, Cambodia after a period of restoration.
It is the sixth of 17 monuments across Cambodia that have been upgraded under a project funded by the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defence, towards the celebration of the 50th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties.
The monuments are the symbol of the everlasting Viet Nam-Cambodia solidarity and friendship.
VietJet officially lists 300 million shares on HOSE
The VietJet Aviation Joint Stock Company listed more than 300 million shares on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HOSE) on February 28, becoming the first airline to debut on the southern bourse.
With this listing, VietJet with the code VJC also became one of the 30 biggest companies on HOSE.
Currently, the airline boasts a fleet of 45 aircraft, including A320s and A321s, and operates 350 flights each day. It has already opened 63 routes in Viet Nam and to international destinations.
