HCM CITY An innovative blend of melodious folk songs mixed with modern music styles and 3D effects is promised at pop singer Cam Ly s live show next month.

The show, Cam Ly 2009 Tu Tinh Que Huong (Cam Ly 2009 Feelings of the Homeland), will feature 22 folk songs of the northern, central and southern regions, including 10 with guests like Phuong Uyen, Dam Vinh Hung, Huong Lan, Dan Truong, Quoc Dai and Quang Linh.

"Receiving more compliments for my folk music is lucky and a surprise to me," Ly said. "I want to do the show to develop my advantage in this kind of music because I believe several audiences will support me."

There are two hotly anticipated collaborations: Ly will sport ao dai (Vietnamese dress) and ao ba ba (South Vietnamese blouse) to perform cai luong (reformed theatre) with rocker Phuong Uyen; and she will perform tuong (classical theatre) with pop star Dam Vinh Hung.

Ly and comedians Hong Van and Hoai Linh will present northern folk songs in the form of lively short plays, which composer Minh Vy, who is also Ly s husband and producer, said would crack up the audience.

Performances inspired by the southern region will be backed by 3D images and lights directed by Pham Hoang Nam, co-director Vy said.

Live show Cam Ly 2009 Tu Tinh Que Huong will run at the Hoa Binh Theatre, 240 Ba Thang Hai Street in District 10, HCM City, on October 2 and 3. Tickets priced VND100,000 to 600,000 (US$5.56 to 33.33) are available at the theatre. VNS
