The music festival brought together four bands from the Vietnam People’s Police, Japan’s Tokyo Police, the New York City Police Department from the USA and the Seoul Police in the Republic of Korea (RoK).
The musicians also held a parade around Hoan Kiem lake, performing many well-known pieces of music which received great acclaim from the audience.
The bands are giving another performance at the Hanoi Opera House tonight.
The event was held jointly by the Hanoi Municipal People’s Committee, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Public Security and Japan’s Mainichi Daily Newspaper (MDN).
The Vietnam People’s Police marching band attended the 13th PWMF in Tokyo, Japan but this is the first time such a festival has been held in Vietnam. The PWMF was initiated by MDN to strengthen and promote international exchanges among police forces across the world. Since it was launched in 1996, the event has been held annually in different countries and territories including the USA, France, Germany, Japan, China, the RoK, Hong Kong, Spain and Singapore.
