A flamenco show entitled ‘Poemas Flamencos’ by troupe Ballet Cristina Hoyos will be hosted in HCMC and Hanoi to mark Spain’s National Day.

Five dancers will perform the poems of Spanish writer Federico Garcia Lorca. The program, organized by the Embassy of Spain, is a combination of three performances of ‘Trips to the South’, ‘Ballad of the Gypsy’ and ‘Cante Jondo’s poem’ which have conquered the hearts of both Spanish and international audiences.

Flamenco is a genre of music and dance which has its foundation in Andalusian music and dance. The ‘cante’ (singing), ‘toque’ (guitar playing), dance and ‘palmas’ (handclaps) are the principal facets of flamenco. On November 2010, UNESCO declared Flamenco one of the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.

Ballet Cristina Hoyos will perform at the Opera House of Hanoi, 1 Trang Tien Street on October 12 and HCMC Opera House, 7 Lam Son Square, District 1 on October 14. Both shows will begin at 8 p.m.

Admission is free. Tickets can be collected for free one week before the performances (while stocks last), seating is limited.
