The United Kingdom and Viet Nam yesterday approved the 2012 action plan which sets out commitments in all areas of the Strategic Partnership Agreement ratified by the two governments in September 2010.

The document was signed by the UK Minister of State in the Commonwealth Office Jeremy Browne and Vietnamese Ambassador to the United Kingdom Vu Quang Minh.
The 2012 Annual Plan follows on from the inaugural Strategic Dialogue which took place in October 2011, and is the second Action Plan to have been signed.
The Action Plan includes Viet Nam's support for the UK's accession to the Treaty of Amity and Co-operation – TAC, enhanced UK support for Viet Nam's anti-corruption efforts through its role as lead donor, closer co-operation to improve access to information and development of the media, and regular dialogue on economic reforms including through the recently agreed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Finance.
Under the plan, the two governments will work together to establish a sustainable model for the Viet Nam-UK international university in central Da Nang City. They will also work together to implement the 2011 MoU on defence relations and the planned MoU on immigration information exchange. Co-operation will also continue in the area of crisis response. — VNS
