Pianist Nguyen Bich Tra, known as Tra Nguyen, and young baritone Nguyen Hai Dang will perform at the HCM City Conservatory on Friday.

The Piano and Voice Concert will feature works for piano and voice composed by Schubert, Schumann and Mozart.

Tra and Dang will perform Schubert's Serenade, which is part of a collection of songs called Schwanengesang (Swan Song), and four works from his song cycle Winterriese (Winter Journey).

The show will include Traumerei (Dreaming) by Schumann and two songs extracted from Mozart's opera Don Giovanni (Don Juan).

Soprano Ngoc Tuyen, who will be a guest of the show, will perform a duet with Dang.

The 24-year-old Dang, a graduate of the city Conservatory, specialises in classical and semi-classical music.

At the concert, Tra will perform solo selected works of Joachim Raff, and Piano Sonata No. 3 in B minor, Op. 58 composed by Chopin.

Tra, who lives in London but often returns to Ha Noi and HCM City to perform, is one of the country's most promising pianists. She graduated from Tchaikovsky Moscow Conservatory in 1997.

In 1999, she completed an advanced performance course at the Royal Academy of Music in London and continued her master's degree at the College of Music and Media there.

She has performed in Europe, working with prestigious studios and producers such as Toccata Classics, Radio Four Hong Kong, Sterling CDs and ARS Productions.

Tra is working with Hong Kong-based Naxos Records, one of the biggest classical music record labels. She plans to release three solo albums worldwide at the end of this year.

The event will begin at 8pm at the HCM City Conservatory, 112 Nguyen Du Street, District 1. Tickets range from VND300,000 – 500,000 and are available at the conservatory and MFC Music Company at 31A Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street. Student tickets are VND90,000. — VNS
