Two second, two third and ten consolation prizes were also presented at the ceremony.
An exhibition of the best pictures in the contest opened at the Temple of Literature in Hanoi on the same day and will last until April 10.
The contest, the third of its kind, is held biennially by the ‘The Gioi Anh’ (Photo World) magazine under the sponsorship of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists. Launched in June, 2010, this year’s contest received nearly 6,000 entries by over 450 photographers across the country.
Under the theme ‘Dynamic and Friendly Vietnam’, the entries depicted the beauty of Vietnam and its people, as well as the country’s achievements during the renewal and global integration process in many fields including politics, economics, culture and society. The good sentiments of international friends towards Vietnam are also featured in the photographs.
