Photojournalist Gian Thanh Son will release next month a book with photographs he took during former President Nguyen Minh Triet's overseas trips made over the 2007-10 period.
HCM CITY —
Titled Dau An Hoi Nhap (Integration Milestones), the book, published by the Vietnam News Agency Publishing House in both English and Vietnamese, takes readers on a diplomatic journey through Asia, Europe, America and Africa.
It records images of talks and meetings held by former President Triet with leaders and residents of the host countries and overseas Vietnamese communities. The president was accompanied by his wife and delegations of senior officials during these visits.
In the introduction, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem says the book captures the diligence and passion of the photojournalist as he works to highlight the diplomatic achievements of Viet Nam during the integration and development period.
Born in the southern province of Long An, the 54-year-old photojournalist began his career in 1975. He is a member of the Viet Nam Journalists Association. He has set two national records in photography – one as the person who has taken the highest number of Vietnamese statesmen's portraits and the other as one who has taken the highest number of aerial photographs of Viet Nam. He has also travelled to 60 countries so far.
Son has several books in the pipeline, including: Viet Nam Nhin Tu Khong Trung (An Aerial View of Viet Nam); Ky Uc (Memories); Chan Dung Chinh Khach (Statesmen's Portraits); Dao va Bo Bien Viet Nam (Viet Nam's Islands and Ccoastline); Khoanh Khac Vong Quanh The Gioi (Around-the-World Moments); and Dau An Hoi Nhap - Tap 2 (Integration Milestones - Volume 2). — VNS
