In Hanoi, the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) held a press conference to introduce upcoming events to celebrate the police force’s traditional day.

According to Lieutenant General Phan Van Vinh, general director of the General Anti-Crime Police Department that hosted the press conference, the MPS will hold exchanges with outstanding members of the police force as well as symposiums on developing and strengthening the police in the new national context. There will also be cultural and art programmes, an ASEAN Police Football Tournament.

A ceremony to commemorate the force’s 50th anniversary will be held in Hanoi on July 20.

The MPS will launch a campaign to combat high-tech crime, corruption, smuggling, trade fraud and, especially, organised crime.

A ceremony marking the occasion was also held on July 16 in the northern province of Phu Tho. Numerous awards were presented to exemplary groups and individuals that made significant contributions to the fight against crime, as well as maintaining social security and order.

A similar ceremony took place in the southern province of Phu Yen to review the 50-year history of the police force and its achievements. Outstanding groups and individuals were also honoured with prestigious State and Government awards at the gathering.
