Nhan Dan - Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has urged Hanoi authorities to make a detailed and thoughtful plan for the Nhat Tan - Noi Bai axis, a significant landmark in the capital's development.
Speaking at a working session with the Hanoi authorities yesterday, the PM demanded that three major projects be completed on schedule, namely the new T2 terminal at Noi Bai International Airport, the Nhat Tan - Noi Bai Highway and the Nhat Tan Bridge.
He said that Hanoi should combine the planning of the Nhat Tan - Noi Bai axis with the development of new urban areas to the north of the city in line with Hanoi's master plan until 2030, with a vision to 2050.
The Hanoi authorities at the working session also suggested that the Government create special mechanisms so the city can access all available social resources to develop the Nhat Tan - Noi Bai axis.
Commenting the project, Deputy PM Vu Van Ninh asked the city to maintain the existing landscapes along the axis including rural villages, cultural sites and green spaces.
The Nhat Tan - Noi Bai axis is a significant project aimed at linking the city centre with Noi Bai International Airport and easing traffic congestion on the Bac Thang Long - Noi Bai Highway.
Once completed, the project will become an economic driver for the capital and the surrounding areas.
