VGP – PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng agreed to add the technical assistance project in response to Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) Phase V into the list of projects sponsored by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) for Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
The total non-refundable aid, worth US $2,408,373, aims to reduce and prevent the spread of HPAI, its affect to people’s health and the epidemic disease caused by H5N1 influenza.
As of October 2011, the project was realized through four phases with the total expenditure of US $11,675,000. After five years of implementation, the project has substaintially contributed to Việt Nam’s efforts in controlling and preventing the HPAI and strengthening its capacity fight epidemic diseases.
In Phase V, the project, lasting form October 2011 to September 2012, will focus more on improving each region’s capacity of controlling diseases and maintaining crucial activities such as supervision, investigation, laboratory assistance, epidemiology and competence building.
