VGP – The number of Vietnamese students going abroad to study kept on increasing in 2011.
It is estimated that over 100,000 overseas Vietnamese students are studying in 49 countries and territories. The figure is ten time higher than a decade ago, according to the Ministry of Education and Training.
Information technology is becoming the most favorable area for Vietnamese students with the growth rate of 15-20%, said Houlin Zhao, Deputy Secretary-General of ITU.
Australia is the top destination. From 2000 to the end of 2010, the number of Vietnamese students in Australia increased 7 times to 25,788.
Việt Nam is also listed as one of the most noticeable emerging markets as the number of students to the US grew robustly in recent years. In the school year 2010-2011, the figure rose by 14%, said US Open Doors.
The majority of overseas Vietnamese students are in favor of faculties like finance, economics, science and technology, management.
