Over VND 220 billion invested in school facilities in remote areas

Nhan Dan – Over VND 220 billion (US$10.5 million) has been spent on upgrading local school facilities from 2004 to mid-2001, announced the Thua Thien – Hue provincial Department of Education and Training.

Over the last eight years, more than 1,100 classrooms and 240 offices for teachers have been built, particularly in remote and mountainous areas such as Nam Dong and A Luoi districts, and Tam Giang lagoon.

The provincial education and training sector raised around VND 170 billion (nearly US$8.2 million) from different sources during the past year to build 370 new classrooms and school toilets, and invested VND 19 billion (over US$900,000) in upgrading teaching and studying equipment.
