Nhan Dan – Over 98% of five-year-old children in Vietnam attend school, according to figures announced on March 15 during an online conference in Hanoi to review two years of universal preschool education in the 2010-2015 period.
The online conference of leaders from 63 provinces and cities was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan.
Reporting on two years of implementing Decision No.239/QD-TTg on preschool education, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thi Nghia said that kindergartens and daycare centers across the country have been built or upgraded to meet the requirements for the universal preschool education programme.
At the meeting, provincial and municipal leaders reported on the universal preschool situation in their localities and gave their opinions and suggestions for the program in the future.
