Over 70 pct high-rise buildings lack parking spaces in HCMC

More than 70 percent of 80 high-rise buildings recently inspected by the Ministry of Transport in Ho Chi Minh City do not have sufficient parking space, a VnExpress report said Thursday.

Citing the ministry's findings, the report said just 18 percent of the buildings enough parking space, while 7.5 percent had no parking at all.

Meanwhile, the city had assigned 1,141 hectares for parking lots, but just 561 hectares have been used as designated, the report said.

In fact, many areas allocated for parking lots were used for other purposes like swimming pools, ministry inspectors found.
