A group painting exhibition named ‘Parcours’ - which is considered a metaphorical journey through a portion of the Vietnamese contemporary artistic landscape - is opening at the Craig Thomas Gallery downtown.

The show display works by Bui Tien Tuan, Bui Thanh Tam, Le Tran Anh Tuan, Lieu Nguyen Huong Duong, Luong Luu Bien, Le Nguyen Manh, Nguyen The Hung, Lim Khim Ka Ty and Tran Quoc Tuan.

The nine promising young and mid-career artists of Parcours represent a number of styles and philosophies. Varied styles, varied notions and varied materials will bring visitors differing thoughts and perceptions in the journey of life, of the careers of artists as well as an insight into the journeys of ordinary people.

In the ‘journey’, visitors will meet portraits of working women with hardship inherent in their lives, bitterness and an unequal burden in marriage and family in Ty’s paintings, or dreamy girls in colorful costumes and plump bodies made by ink and water color on silk by Bui Tien Tuan.

Le Tran Anh Tuan presents women who embrace romantic dreams; Tam likes to draw crazy women in showy and weird clothes. Tran Quoc Tuan depicts the silent corner of someone’s life. Bien makes people think profoundly with dark golden colors, sea waves and thoughtful people.

The show runs until the end of the month at the gallery, 27i Tran Nhat Duat Street in HCMC’s District 1.
