The first turbine of the gas-fired Nhon Trach Power Plant No. 2 in southern Dong Nai Province has linked up with the national grid recently after being completed three months ahead of schedule.

The second is expected to go on stream by 2011.
The plant, built by the Nhon Trach 2 PetroVietnam Power Joint Stock Company in Nhon Trach District, will cost US$706 million and have a total capacity of 750 MW.
Its construction began in June 2009.
The plant is registered as a Clean Development Mechanism project by the UN. — VNS
