Nhan Dan Newspaper Editor-in-Chief elected VJA Chairman

The election took place at the third plenary meeting of the ninth tenure VJA Executive Committee on March 27. The meeting also elected Tran Gia Thai, Director of Hanoi Radio – Television, as VJA Vice Chairman. Two new members of the VJA Standing Committee and four additional members of the Association’s Executive Board were also appointed.

As well as the new appointments, the meeting also aimed to review the VJA’s activities in 2011 and propose its plans for 2012.

Speaking at the event, former VJA Chairman Dinh The Huynh said that over the past year, the VJA at all levels have achieved positive and practical results and contributed greatly to the national sustainable development.

In 2011, the Association, with more than 19,000 members, has strived to fulfill its political tasks through implementing the 11th Party Congress’ Resolution, improving political awareness and professional skills for its members, promoting journalistic works, and strengthening the quality and efficiency of VJA’s operation at all levels.

In 2012, the VJA will continue promoting the ‘Study and Follow President Ho Chi Minh’s Moral Example’ campaign, in addition to following nine regulations on journalists’ professional ethics.

The VJA will also focus on enhancing its role and position, building up a strong and clean grassroots association, encouraging journalists to fulfill their assigned tasks, particularly in the creation and dissemination of news and information, as well as strengthening media training through seminars and exchanges at both local and central levels.
