The first International Marathon Race will be held on October 11 along the beautiful beach of the central-coastal city of Nha Trang, Khanh Hoa province, say organisers.
The competition, which is part of the activities to boost relationship between Vietnam and Japan, includes three events of half-marathon, 10km and a 5km race.
According to organisers, the marathon will offer the opportunity to promote Nha Trang’s image as a polite, friendly and hospitable city internationally.
Nearly 130 athletes from various countries have registered to take part in the tournament which is scheduled to become an annual event.
They will have a chance to race against Mari Tanigawa, Japan’s most famous runner, who won golds in the Tokyo International Marathon in 1991 and 1994 and the Paris International Marathon in 1995.
Part of proceeds will be presented to local hospitals.
