The General Department of Tourism held a news conference on December 27th to introduce Vietnam’s new tourism logo and slogan and the 2012 tourism strategy.
The old slogan “Vietnam – Hidden charm” has now been replaced by the new one “Viet Nam-Timeless Charm”.
“The new slogan on one hand inherits the old one and on the other hand it is more open in terms of space, time and tourist products,” Deputy-Chief of the Tourist Market Bureau, Ms Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong, said at the news conference.
Meanwhile, the logo is stylised from the lotus flower with 5 petals in 5 colours.
According to officials, the navy-blue expresses marine tourism, the green is for eco-tourism and nature, the orange for cultural and historical tourism, the violet for adventurous and exploring tourism and the pink for the dynamism and hospitability of the Vietnamese.
The organizing board said that the new Vietnamese tourism logo and slogan have been selected from more than 400 pieces by 223 authors across the country at a contest launched by the tourism sector from August to December.
At the news conference, officials also unveiled the sector’s plan for 2012. Accordingly, the sector has planned to attract some 6.5 million international visitors in the incoming year.
