New development allots land for school

Part of the land allotted for public use in the planning of Ha Noi's suburban Soc Son District will be reserved for school construction, according to the municipal People's Committee.

Privately-owned Lac Long Quan High School is set to be built on the land.

The committee also approved a 29-level housing complex project, comprised of offices, shops and apartments, on Trung Kinh Road, Yen Hoa Ward, Cau Giay District.

The project, run by two State-owned companies, is scheduled to start in the 4th quarter and be completed in the next three years.

Memorial opens for national hero

HA TINH — A memorial project commemorating Ly Tu Trong, a famous Communist matyr, was kicked off in central Ha Tinh Province yesterday.

The memorial, invested by the local Communist Youth Union, is being built on an area of more than 51,000sq.m at a cost of VND83 billion (nearly US$4 million). The project is expected to complete on the occasion of Ly Tu Trong's 100th birthday anniversary in 2014.

At the age of 17, Ly Tu Trong was sentenced to death for his revolutionary activities on October 20, 1914. — VNS
