PANO - Organisations and businesses have donated about VND 60 billion to the Support Fund for Prevent Natural Disasters Prevention in the Central Provinces.
The sum was collected in an artistic exchange, “Joining hands with the Centre to minimise the consequences of natural disasters”, held on the evening of May 8th in Ho Chi Minh City Theatre by the Fund in conjunction with the Vietnam Television and Phuong Dong Cultural Stock Company.
State President, Mr. Nguyen Minh Triet, Mr. Truong Tan Sang, Politburo member and standing member of the Secretariat of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Mrs. Nguyen Thi Binh, former Vice-President sent letters and flower-baskets of congratulation.
During the exchange, participants enjoyed songs in praise of the beloved Central region, performed by singers, inclusing Thanh Thuy, My Linh, Phi Hung and Quang Linh.
Besides, 25 businesses with outstanding achievements in building the Fund were honoured.
The Fund, since its foundation two years ago, has mobilised more than VND 42 billion from various organisations, businesses and benefactors.
To date, 16 schools, 6 clinics, 9 cultural houses have been constructed as public works and safe shelters during flood or other natural disasters.
Speaking at the exchange, Mr. Le Thanh Hai, Politburo member cum Secretary of Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, on behalf of the State and the Party’s leaders, called for more supports to help compatriots in the natural-disasters-prone regions.
