Naval soldiers help ethnic people

60 officers and soldiers from Unit S96 under the Naval Zone B have taken part in a voluntary program to help ethnic people in Phu Tan Commune, Dinh Quan District in the southern province of Dong Nai.

Tan Phu is a poor commune where there are 15 ethnic groups with a lot of daily living difficulties. In particular, the road system was very poor in the area, causing difficulties in developing the economy and traveling.

These naval soldiers, in cooperation with young students from a local medical college, carried out various activities including building 25km of roads, planting 50 trees, repairing houses and presenting gifts to poor people in the commune.

According to Lieutenant Le Cong Doan, a political officer of the unit, the program was very meaningful and helpful to local ethnic people.

Through these activities, these soldiers had a chance to understand more about the customs of ethnic groups. The program also helped to further improve the relationship between the residents and the unit.
