National youth swimming championships conclude

Nhan Dan Online – The National Youth Swimming and Fin-swimming Championships – PVFC Cup 2012 officially closed yesterday in Hanoi after 13 days of competition.

Ho Chi Minh City captured a total of ten gold, five silver and four bronze medals to claim the overall title of the fin-swimming event which took place from July 17 to 20, leaving behind Da Nang and Quang Binh in second and third place respectively.

Meanwhile, Long An were crowned champions in the swimming category held on July 21-24, taking home 24 gold, 16 silver and 16 bronze medals, three golds more than runners-up Ho Chi Minh City.

The annual tournament brought together 344 athletes representing 30 teams from across the country to contend for 72 sets of medals in the swimming and fin-swimming events.

The fortnight long competition presented a perfect opportunity to select young promising talents for the national youth swimming team in preparation for upcoming regional and world competitions.
