Ten art troupes with nearly 600 artists took part in the festival. The two programmes, “Ky uc Song Hong” (Red River Memory) by the Thang Long Music and Dance Theatre from Hanoi and “Tinh nguoi trong long noi” (Love in the Cradle) by the White Mountain-Ebony Flower Art Troupe from Dien Bien province, were presented gold medals.
“Vang sang” (Shimmer) and “Tu noi gio ngan” (From the Windy Wood), performed respectively by the Son La Ethnic Art Troupe and the Military Zone 1 ensemble, won silver medals and while an additional 18 gold and 23 silver medals were awarded to other performances .
Various prizes were also given to outstanding directors, bands and choreographers.
On the occasion, the Vietnam Association of Dancers (VAD) presented certificates of merit to six groups that performed particularly well during the festival, while the Vietnam Association of Musicians (VAM) awarded five prizes for outstanding musical performances.
The festival, held once every three years by the VAD, VAM and the Department of Performing Arts under the Vietnam Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, aims to review the quality of professional art troupes across the country and plan for their future development.
The second phase of the festival for professional art troupes from the central highland and south region will be held this August in the central highland province of Dak Lak.
