Nhan Dan – A national conference was held in Da Nang today to honour nearly 400 outstanding invalids, heroic Vietnamese mothers, and Heroes of the People’s Armed Forces, as well as relatives of martyrs, revolutionary contributors and victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin.
The event was attended by representatives of the Party, State, Fatherland Front Central Committee, ministries and sectors, as well as leaders of 63 provinces and cities and related local departments.
The honorees represented 8.8 million revolutionary contributors across the country. They were heroes during Vietnam’s resistance wars and have set admirable examples for productive labour, as well as in the ‘Study and Follow President Ho Chi Minh's Moral Example’ campaign and other patriotic emulation movements.
The conference is of great political significance on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day (July 27, 1947-2012), showing the affection, gratitude and responsibility the Party, State and people feel towards those who have made sacrifices for the fatherland's independence and freedom.
The event is also a way recognising the significant contributions war invalids, martyrs' families and all revolutionary veterans have made to the country.
The 2012 national conference was jointly organised by the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Defence, Nhan Dan newspaper and the Da Nang People’s Committee.
