Nhan Dan – Sixteen gold, 32 silver and 76 bronze prizes were presented to 124 outstanding radio works at the closing ceremony of the 10th National Radio Broadcasting Festival 2012 in Hanoi on June 15.

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Bac Son, and Party Central Committee member, Nhan Dan Newspaper Editor-in-chief Thuan Huu, along with representatives from radio stations across the country.

Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Nhan explained significance of the festival and highlighted the important role of the press in covering the increasing challenges and requirements currently facing the country.

The Deputy PM also pointed out several shortcomings of the press that need to be addressed soon. He called on the press to increase its social responsibility, journalistic ethics, and professional skills to efficiently disseminate Party guidelines and State policies to the public.

The 124 winning entries were selected from the 193 entries that made it through to the final round. They were all high quality and reflected all aspects of life, from politics to socio-economic affairs, morality and lifestyle.

The bi-annual event also offered an opportunity for radio journalists to meet and share professional experiences.
