The Deputy PM made the point on March 9 while presiding a plenary session of the Steering Committee on working performance in 2016 and orientations and tasks in 2017.

The event also drew the attendance of Deputy PMs Vuong Dinh Hue and Vu Duc Dam.

The National Steering Committee on International Integration assessed that the year of 2016 marked a new phase on international integration especially economic integration in Viet Nam.

Over the past time, the Party and State issued a series of important documents on international integration especially Resolution 22 of the Politburo and Resolution 06-NQ/TW on effective implementation of international economic integration to ensure political and social stability in the context of Viet Nam's joining new generation free trade agreements.

Addressing the event, Deputy PM Minh highlighted that the integration process brought back practical benefits for both enterprises and people and accelerated institutional mechanisms in line with international standards.

The Government would issue an action program for the implementation of Resolution 06-NQ-TW with 50 specific tasks and beef up close coordination to review and amend regulations in accordance with signed FTAs.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade was assigned to compose a draft directive on enhancement of effective FTA enforcement.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs would work with relevant ministries and agencies to enable more countries to recognize Viet Nam as a market economy. So far, only 64 foreign countries recognized Viet Nam’s market economy.

According to Deputy PM Minh, as the host of APEC in the second time, Viet Nam would be able to contribute to the forum and cement and deepen its economic and commercial ties with other APEC member economies.

The Deputy PM noted the importance of facilitating citizens and enterprises to access to information on integration; upholding the role of the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry in order to make full use of incentives and opportunities from FTAs./.
