NA Standing Committee convenes 9th session

VGP - The 14th NA Standing Committee on April 17 opened its ninth meeting which will run through April 22.

In her opening remarks, NA Chairwoman NguyenThi Kim Ngan said the six-day meeting will be divided into two parts, with the first one focusing on law making and the second being question andanswer sessions.

During this meeting, the committee will discuss several draft laws, including the Law on Support for Small- and Medium-sized Enterprises, Law on Management and Use of State Assets (revised), Law on State Compensation Liability (revised), Law on adjustments and supplementations to several articles of the Penal Code No.100/2015/QH13, Law on the Management and Use of Weapons, Explosives and Supportive Weapons, and Law on Planning.

NA Vice Chairwoman Tong Thi Phong said that it’s necessary to ensure social insurance for employees in small- and medium-sized enterprises.

“We respect domestic and foreign investors but we must protect the interests of employees. This is our commitment to the international community. Workers should benefit from social welfare,” Phong said.

The second part will feature several Q&A sessions where the policymakers will question Government members on policies for people who rendered service to the nation, vocational training for young people and demobilized soldiers and policemen; and the transformation and management of drug detoxification centres across the country.

In addition, Government members will be required to explain to the NA Standing Committee issues related to the management of cyber information safety, the censoring of advertisements on the mass media and how to tackle the spread of false and distorted information on electronic media.

The NA Standing Committee will hold a Q&A session with the Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs and Minister of Information and Communications.
