The Hanoitimes - The opening ceremony of the “My Culture – Conversation in Open Spaces” photo exhibition was held at Ly Thai To Park in Hanoi .
The exhibition gathers 150 outstanding works, selected from hundreds of thousands taken by ethnic minorities across the country. These photos feature beautiful composition and colour, and contain strong messages of community life.
This is the result of the Photovoice program, held by the Institute of Social Studies, Economics and Environment (ISEE) since the beginning of 2012 with the participation of nine ethnic groups, including: Si Hmong, Black Dao (Yen Bai), Black H’mong, Red Dao (Lao Cai), Muong, Thai (Thanh Hoa), Pa Co and Van Kieu (Quang Tri), and Khmer (Soc Trang).
The Photovoice program enables ethnic minorities to self-explore and proudly introduce the beauty of their cultures. People who never took a picture before have now created thousands of unique and vibrant pieces of photography. Each photo reveals a true story explored and told by the photographer.
“My Culture – Conversation in Open Spaces” exhibition will run until April 22nd. As scheduled, after the exhibition, the works will be published in books and some mini exhibitions will be held at various localities.
