(CPV) - A music show entitled “Earth Song” to begin Earth Hour 2012 will be held at the French Cultural Centre (l’Espace) in Hanoi, 24 Trang Tien on March 17 th 2012.
The music show will have the participation of singers Dinh Manh Ninh, Sign in and So Good Fusion Bands along with hundreds of students from universities in Hanoi. The event is co-organised by Live and Learn Centre for Environment and Community, the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung Institute and French Cultural Centre in Hanoi.
Earth Hour started in 2007 in Sydney, Australia when 2.2 million homes and businesses turned their lights off for one hour to make a stand against climate change. Over the last 4 years, Earth Hour has become a global sustainability movement with millions people across many countries participating. Earth Hour is a global call to action to every individual, every business and every community throughout the world. It is a call to stand up, to take responsibility, to get involved and lead the way towards a sustainable future.
Earth Hour 2012, the globe’s biggest annual environmental event,will take place in 135 nations and territories with the expected participation of some 1.8 billion people.
Earth Hour 2012 in Vietnam will be organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade with technical support from the World Wide Fund-Vietnam. It takes place on Saturday 31 March, from 8.30pm to 9.30pmwith the slogan “I will if you will”.
The organising board expressed their hope that this year's campaign would have a broad effect in terms of educating the public and encouraging people to save electricity by turning off their lights and electrical appliances. Not only does it call on people to save energy on this occasion, but to be more environmentally aware by regularly using electricity-saving bulbs, growing more trees and recycling./.
