Museum tells story of Hanoi’s history

The Hanoitimes - The history of how Hanoi was originally formed and has subsequently developed will be depicted by thousands of exhibits o­n display at the Hanoi Museum , scheduled to open in October, to coincide with the millennium anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.

Covering an area of nearly 54,000 m2 the reverse pyramid-shaped museum is the largest and most modern of its kind in Vietnam .

The building has six floors and is designed so it can be divided into different areas to exhibit pottery and private collections o­n Hanoi , including many ancient artifacts that depict the nation’s cultural development.

Apart from the outdoor exhibition of Hanoian ornamental animals and plants, the museum includes function rooms for meetings and workshops, research facilities, a library and a workshop to preserve and restore exhibits.

Constructed using advanced technologies with an initial investment of 2.3 trillion VND, the museum has been installed with a modern sound and lighting system and has a closeable roof.

The builders, Germany ’s GMP International GmbH-Inros Lackner and the Vinaconex Corporation, are expected to complete the exhibition area o­n schedule.

Once fully completed in 2013, the museum will be able to display around 50,000 exhibits.
