Moving family reunion in Truong Sa Island

Much tears and smiles in Truong Sa Island in this June, when the ship HQ 571 carried family members and relatives to visit soldiers in the island.

Indefinable feelings

After many days floating in the ship HQ 571, Ha was suffering from seasick. However, when hearing the news that the ship was about to come to Da Tay Island, Ha quickly got up to prepare her belongings and restlessly looked forward to the island.

Seeing Da Tay Island, the young lady seemed to be out of her tune talking with her husband on cell phone. Her heart flutters to get off the ship to step on the island straightly. Unfortunately, because of huge waves and shallow water, the ship could not reach the island at that time. Tears welled up Ha’s eyes and she even could not sleep all night. However, when the canoe carrying Ha to Da Tay Island the next morning, Khanh, her husband, could no longer be patient and was also taking another canoe to pick up his wife.

Moving moment of meeting between Ha and her husband in Truong Sa Island.

Ha burst into tears meeting her husband and Khanh quickly showed his wife around the island from room to room, the kitchen, and small but pretty vegetables-pots.

Similar to Ha, many others from different provinces across the country were impatiently looking forward to meet their sons or husbands who are undertaking noble mission on the island. Father Nguyen Van Xien from Quang Binh who visited his son in Da Dong B Island with only sweet potatoes and peanuts as presents also expected to arrive the island as soon as possible to give these special gifts for his son. Another father Vu Hong Quang loudly shouted drowning in the sound of the canoe engine: “My son is over there” upon seeing his son seriously preparing to greet him in Da Lat Island. Or mother Huynh Thi Dong from Quang Ngai sewed a new pair of trousers to put on only when she met her son in Phan Vinh Island.

This is my Truong Sa!

These are the first words uttered by Ta Ngoc Bao to his mother, Luong Thi Hue, when she sat her first foot on Truong Sa Island. “Yes. Your Truong Sa is so beautiful. But it is also mine”, the mother answered.

Noteworthy is that the husband got up early to introduce the wonderful dawn in Truong Sa to his wife, or a son waits for squared-shaped briquettes appear to show Truong Sa’s beauty to his mother.

One thing in common is that, all soldiers’ fathers, mothers and wives agreed that “Our beloved Truong Sa is so wonderful!”

Mother Le Thi Que from Nghe An who had brought many rice pancakes for her son, is considered the common mother of all soldiers on the island. Mother Que could not check tears to see her son dignified and matured.

Similarly, mother Le Thi Ai from Thanh Hoa could not sleep all night after meeting her son. Overflowing feelings urged her to write a poetry about Truong Sa Island: “Thank Truong Sa/ Helps my son/ Know to love the country… which touched various people’s hearts.
