Ms. Dato’ Sri Ng Yen Yen, Minister of Malaysian Tourism, has just voted for Ha Long Bay as one of the Seven New Wonders of the world while unveiling the opening of the Malaysian Tourism Promotion Department in Hanoi on November 8th.
Ms. Yen said that Vietnam is an important market for Malaysia and the opening of the Malaysian Tourism Promotion Department in Hanoi will enhance tourism between the two countries. She noted that Vietnam, with its long-standing culture and wonderful natural wonders, will deserve to be one of the most attractive destinations for foreign tourists.
In another development, in a chain of various activities in Thua Thien-Hue Province, the Grand Duke of Luxembourg, Henri, and his entourage voted for Ha Long as one of the Seven New Wonders of the world on November 9th as well. Also on the same day, the Luxembourg Minister of Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Assistance, Marie Josee Jacobs, on behalf of the Grand Duke, gave €100,000 as emergency aid to Thua Thien-Hue people to tackle the devastating flooding.
