(CPV) - A delegation of more than 30 Overseas Vietnamese (OV) from 19 countries, including Laos, Thailand, the UK, Poland, Finland, France, the Czech Republic, Angola and Malaysia, will flock to the Hung Kings festival in the northern midland province of Phu Tho from March 27- 30.

So said the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs (COVA) on March 23.

A commemoration of the anniversary of the death of the legendary national founders includes an offering by Dien Bien and Nghe An provinces and Hai Phong and Da Nang cities and a procession of palanquin from six surrounding communes will take place at the Hung Kings Temples Relics Site.

This year’s festival includes a program on tourism highlighting Phu Tho, Yen Bai and Lao Cai provinces and renowned “Xoan” singing.

According to COVA, this is a significant community-based activity to promote a scientific dossier on “Hung Kings worship rituals in Phu Tho” which is seeking UNESCO recognition as a World Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Besides, the OV delegation will also visit some places in the northern province of Lao Cai such as border posts and landmarks, listening to an introduction about border demarcation and marker planting.

These activities demonstrate the morality “When drinking water, remember its source” of the country, as well as the Party and State’s attention to the OV community worldwide, about 3 million people./.
