More than 1.5 million new jobs were generated for Vietnamese labourers in 2011, including 87,000 overseas, according to figures released on January 6 by the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs.
Labour Minister Pham Thi Hai Chuyen said that despite difficulties caused by the economic downturn, the efforts taken by the Government and relevant authorities had made it possible for Vietnam to attain significant achievements in social welfare, including improvements in salaries, social and unemployment insurance, and labour relationships.
