(VOV) - A ceremony was held in Prach Ta Meth village, Khsach Kandal district, Kandal province, Cambodia, to repatriate 56 remains of Vietnamese martyrs to their hometowns.
Remains of Vietnamese martyrs repatriated from Laos Speaking at the ceremony, Kandal governor Khun Sirun expressed his special thanks for Vietnamese people and soldiers’ great sacrifice, helping Cambodia escape the genocidal Pol Pot regime and revive the nation.
He said Cambodia considers cooperation with Vietnam in searching and repatriating remains of Vietnamese martyrs as its responsibility and sacred duty.
The 56 remains were found in Kandal province during six months of the dry season in 2011-2012.
More than 14,500 sets of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts have been returned home since Vietnam and Cambodia signed an agreement on the domain in 2000
