The Minister of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan has emphasised the need to build a child protection system to ensure the safety of children.
Speaking at a national seminar on protecting children from violence and abuse, in Hanoi on September 24, Ngan said that those who involve in child care and protection work at all levels need to be brought together to establish professional children’s social services.
Representatives from 41 provincial and city ministries and sectors and domestic and foreign experts in child protection and care analysed the reasons that lead to child abuse, emphasing the lack of management ability and responsibility in public employees and officials in child protection, care and education.
The Ministry of Public Security has reported that each year, there are more than 100 children murdered, 900 cases of child abuse and 50 children trafficked or kidnapped./.
