PANO – Operation Smile Vietnam plans to provide free surgeries for Vietnamese children and teenagers with cleft lip and palate in Hanoi from April 16 th to 20 th .
Namely, doctors will select and test the patients on April 16th and then conduct surgeries on three subsequent days at the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Hospital in Hoan Kiem District, Ha Noi.
It is the 8th operation in 2012, financed by the Mobifone-Rockstorm, to help the needy cleft lip and palate children in Hanoi and some northern provinces.
To ensure the safety during surgeries, cleft lip patients should be aged from 6 months old and weighing at least 8 kg, and cleft palate children should be at least 18 months old and 12 kg. In addition, children with malnutrition, asthma, high fever, cardiovascular diseases and diabetes will not be eligible for surgery.
Since the beginning of 2012, Operation Smile Vietnam successfully provided surgeries for more than 200 patients with cleft lip and palate.
