According to online advertisement of a match-making center in Yunnan, a Chinese man can seek a Vietnamese bride at the age of 18-25 with only $30,000-40,000 yuan.
This match-making center is based in Kunming city. It organizes group tours to Vietnam for single men and arranges dates with selected Vietnamese girls.
According to Kunming-based Spring City Evening News, the cost for such a tour includes traveling expenses, interpretation service, gifts for girl’s family and wedding. If the date fails or the Chinese man does not like the selected girl, the match-making agency will collect only 2,000 yuan. The match-maker will have to seek a new bride, if the first bride runs away after the wedding.
Similar match-making centers have been established in China in recent years, to meet the rising demand for ‘brides’ of Chinese men.
A match-making center in Nanning provides Vietnamese girls with brief biographies of Chinese men in Vietnamese.
Such match-making service is illegal in China but the law does not set specific sanctions on this.
